About Srinagar Circle
The Department of Archaeology established in Jammu & Kashmir State in 1904 by His Highness Maharaja Ranbir Singh. The State Archaeology Department subsequently merged with Archaeological Survey of India in the year 1958 and named as Frontier Circle. Shri T. N. Khazanchi was the first Superintending Archaeologist of Srinagar Circle. Eminent Archaeologists like Shri R. S. Bisht, Shri B. M. Pande, R. C. Agarwal, R. S. Fonia and Dr. B. R.
